------ Forwarded Message From: Wanja Eric Naef <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Organization: IWS Date: Fri, 1 Apr 2005 14:14:31 +0100 CIA Cyber National Intelligence Estimate We are pleased to announce that our researcher Michael Wilburo managed to get hold of a classified United States National Intelligence Estimate (NIE). Dated 1 April 05, the NIE looks at cyber threats which pose a threat to national security of the United States. The report is 401 pages long, but it is well worth reading. The report warns, among many other things, that terrorist groups will launch a massive cyber attack against the critical infrastructure of the United States of America within the next 3 years. >From the report: ... [Page 57] '[Cyber attacks] raise a lot of concerns, because they can lead to people getting hurt. And that's why the proper authorities are the Department of Homeland Security officials, and our military JTF-Global Network Operations center, whose officers work on a daily basis to prevent terrorists from attacking this country by cyber-based means.' ... [The report issues a stern warning that the cyber attack capabilities of Cuba & North Korea are a danger to the US.] [Page 123] 'Several North Korean defectors told the DIA [Defense Intelligence Agency] that North Korea has been training a cyberwarrior army in order to counter any potential US attacks.' ... [Page 174] 'From a Cuban NSA signal intelligence intercept (POTTERWARTS) 'Castro ordered us to improve our cyber attacking capabilities, so that we are ready to attack the Imperialists [US & NATO] before they launch the next aggression'. Our intelligence indicates that Havana recently installed a pair of RJ-45 internet connections for just such purposes, and those present a grave concern.'
