No, I've been spending a lot of time on the listserver administration stuff, so I've held off on the back-end processing. I'm doing a demonstration to a group of potential users next week, and they are much more interested in ease of administration. I'm using SQL Auth., but still not connecting. Question: in the ODBC setup, when it asks for server, do you just need the IP address? I'm assuming you need something more -- backslashes, alias name, something, because that's not working. Right now I have data source name: TEST description: <blank> Server: 209.8.58.3 Cold Fusion Login: (username and password) This identical configuration works if I give it the NAME of a SQL server, rather than the IP address. I've also tried 209.8.58.3:1433 since 1433 is the port SQL-Server runs on. To no avail. Thanks, I'm really stuck on this! I'll move this over to cf-talk if I can't get this soon (so I won't be OT on this list) Tac ----- Original Message ----- From: Guillermo Dewey <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: inFusion Support List <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, May 19, 2000 6:43 PM Subject: Re: [iMS] using an offsite SQL-Server database via ODBC, over TCP/IP > we use iMS on a non local machine using tcp ip and had the same problem at > the begining.. we solved using the sql auth not nt auth, just make sure the > user access from machine 1 is ok for machine 2. by other way did you make > ims work storing files on the sql server instead of making files? > > At 06:38 p.m. 19/05/00 -0400, you wrote: > >This is not iMS-specific, but more CF/SQL-Server (but would apply to iMS). > > > >How does one connect to a SQL-Server database that's not on the local > >network?
