Hi All,
I tend to agree with Adrian's underlying thought, that there must be a
basic set of templates to make the server go as part of the main package. I
was happy with the original style of iMS, ie FusionMail was just a hint as
to how to do things, now things have evolved so we are discussing as to
whether there should a full mail package available.
Unless FM/2 is amazingly good the whole package is just too expensive as a
mail server, knowing that you need CF and SQL as well as just iMS, it is
not a package that Joe Blow is going to buy. iMS is a tool to do fancy mail
things and many of us are doing just that. What have we, a nice webmail
engine in Spanish, Kid's Chat (have I got that right?), all sorts of
things, and locally an in-house List server and now a bulk mail engine is
evolving in our firm. iMS is a great tool and the base set of templates
from FM/1 got us going and saved us a lot of learning curve, they are a
must as far as we are concerned.
The whole FusionMail thing is another territory, we threw it away as did a
few others :-), but it is nice as a starting point.
I am just worried that FM/2 becomes a beasty and makes 3rd party stuff
non-viable. We have kept our List server in-house as we could not justify
the cost of making it a commercial product, it would be too expensive
compared to what is already on the market. The bulk-mail engine is
definitely an in-house engine and iMS has been just perfect for it :-)

Kym
