Hi,
We are trying to spool our own .mail & .mbx files to the \ims\out directory. We have created .mail & .mbx files that match the same ones generated by CFX_iMSMail, but with different filenames and it's not going out. We have researched on how the format of the filenames should be and have found conflicting information. We're trying to find out what's going on and how we can make this work.
1. In the iMS Manual, on page 126, it says:
"The format of the control file name is:
<32 character Unique ID>_<mbx name>.mail"
But in a message in the archives dated Mar. 15 of this year (from Howie), an e-mail from the archive states:
"The specification for the control file is in the iMS manual. The file specs (for the mail file and control file) are: <<<Mail file>>> Name is a 20 character string with an extension of .mbx. For example: 01234567890123456789.mbx The mail file contains the raw email including all headers. <<<Control file>>> The control file name is a 41 character string with an extension of .mail. The latter part of the control file name (after the underscore) refers to the mail file name. For example: 9876543210987654321_01234567890123456789.mail "
Now, I tried this EXACT example and here's the message placed in the log file:
12/08/2001 04:25:40 PM Added 1 file to queue.
12/08/2001 04:25:40 PM [001] ControlFileReadError=Files does not exist
12/08/2001 04:25:40 PM [001] Send mail start for 234567890123456789FFFFF0.mbx (Priority 5)
12/08/2001 04:25:40 PM [001] WARNING: Error reading control file [Files does not exist] 9876543210987654321001_234567890123456789FFFFF0.mail. Removing from queue.
12/08/2001 04:25:40 PM [001] Completed Processing
My mbx filename was 01234567890123456789.mbx and my mail control filename was 98765432109876543210_01234567890123456789.mail and it appears to be changing the filename somehow.
When I place these files into the out queue, it moves the .mail file to the queued directory and leaves the .mbx file in the out directory, and places the above message in the logfile...
HELP!
Here's what we want to do: Create an .mbx filename with a customer number in it (if we have to have 20 characters, we'll add some on...our customer numbers are RB999999 in format). And then we will have multiple (thousands possibly) .mail files for that one .mbx file.
Let me know what you think and how we can accomplish this successfully. We're evaluating the product and have spent HOURS on this one thing today already.
Sincerely,
Dave Phillips
