This is an ongoing and interesting scenario. The thoughts on this and
potential solutions for this are deep and wide.

The difference between IMS post and CFMAIL insofar as the function as you
have described is that IMS actually bypasses your SMTP server and Posts the
mail directly to the receiving hosts mail server as indicated by the DNS
lookup - which is essentially what your SMTP server does.

1. In your headers make sure your server can be looked up by the receiving
host. This allows the receiving host to see that you are indeed a 'real'
server.
2. You may try adding a "Received:" line to your header like:
Received: from #YOUR-SMTP-SERVER# [XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX] by #HostName#"
        Where:
YOUR-SMTP-SERVER = your mail server host name as indicated by the MX
record associated with your domain in the DNS records
XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX = the public IP address of your SMTP server
HostName = the server with POST running on it.
3. 1 control file : 1 email address for AOL accounts
4. Setup the IMS Post on your physical SMTP server and then write the files
from the CF server to the IMS server.

Again, I have not seen a 100% solution, but we use #1, #2, #3 above and we
have VERY little issue with AOL accounts. Occasionally, we have a 24 to 48
hour delay, but I have only not seen any "lost" emails.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [iMS] AOL and mail not being delivered

Hello,

I am using IMS SE. I have a user at an aol address who is not receiving
mail that appears to be sent successfully in the log file. Are there any
know AOL issue or incompatibilities? Delivery to this address works fine
from my our other mail server and also worked fine via cfmail, before we
replaced it with IMS SE.

Does AOL have any stringent requirements? Thank you for your insights!

Brook
