Sorry for the late reply - I just got out of a dev meeting...
Anyway, the servers are as follows:
SMTP - this is the full iMS SMTP server. It is used for dynamically processing
incoming email. The SMTP server
requires server templates that control its operation. For example, a RCPT.CFM
template would let the iMS server know
whether an email recipient was valid or not. The full SMTP server comes standard with
iMS-SOHO and the bundle versions
of iMS Pro and Enterprise.
Relay - this is a server that is intended for support of legacy applications that need
an SMTP server to send email
(CFMAIL, for example). To the application, the Relay server looks just like a normal
SMTP server. The Relay server
takes incoming email and injects it into the iMS POST Server queue for delivery.
POST - this is the server that sends email to other domains.
The iMS-SE package comes with:
POST, SMTP/B (a special SMTP bounce processor), Relay, Scheduler.
As for the settings I mentioned - yes, I mean the SMTP port setting in the CF
administrator.
HTH,
Howie
