Howie, we've talked a little about this a few weeks ago ... and I'm just
getting back to trying to set up the mail server on my development machine.
As it stands, my development machine uses an IP address that is not exposed
outside of our LAN. We've established all of the appropriate DNS and MX
records to work. We can't find any problems with these configurations.
Last time I tested this, I could send e-mail out from the account I set up,
but couldn't receive e-mail back. Today, no mail is going out.
Using the iMS SMTP test console, I can connect to the server fine. With the
iMS POP console, I can connect on port 110 just fine, but if I check the
username or password, I get an error.
However, using FusionMail I can neither send nor receive. I tried
configuring Outlook Express with the account information, and OE will not
connect to the SMTP server, and though it will connect for POP, I get an
authentication error.
I guess I'm missing something here, but not sure what.
H.
