The show website gives a lengthy bio of Guy but says nothing about his faith. But I guess that would be written by the makers of the show.

Australian Idol a Christian man My name is Kevin Thomas and I am the Associate Pastor of Creative Arts in Heritage City Community Church, Ipswich, Queensland. It is early hours of the morning and I find myself unable to sleep. I sense a stirring within me that I can only put down to something straight from the heart of God and I am compelled to do something that I would not normally do. I feel to encourage and spur on the church to engage in the battle that is going on before our eyes on National Television. I don't think we appreciate what God is doing right before our eyes the church needs to rise up and support this young brave man as he steps out onto the water to try and make a difference for His Saviour.
The young man I refer to is Guy Sebastian, a man I have never met. Jesus gave us very clear instructions in Mt 5:13-16 when he said we are to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth to a people who sit in darkness. In order for us to have this kind of impact we must actually engage the darkness with the light, we must actually insert ourselves as salt into the midst of a decaying dying world. If you have been following Australian Idol you would be well aware of the kind of impact that Guys ministry in song is having on the judges.
Do we really understand what we are witnessing before our eyes? We, the church of Australia have a very real chance of making a difference in the music industry if we stop spectating and join the fight with Guy by helping him become Australias very first Idol. How about it church? Australia's very first idol, a full on Christian who loves God with all his heart. Can you Imagine what kind of an impact that is going to have on the Australian Music Scene and imagine what kind of an influence Guy is going to have in helping influence the next generation of young people? Its awesome!!
The bible tells us in Ecc 9:11 that time and chance happen to all. I think God has put a great opportunity before us if we will just engage the fight and support this courageous young man Guy Sebastian. It doesnt matter what church Guy attends. What really matters is that God has His man, His influence on the inside, at the heart of what is a fairly godless area at present, the Australian Music Industry.
Church Leaders: This Sunday please ask your people to watch channel 10 Sunday nights at 7.30pm to hear Guy sing and encourage them to call their vote through to vote Guy to the top.
Friends, I dont know about you but that the standard that I would like to see put up for all other future Australian Idol contestants to follow on after. I want the world to know that the first Australia Idol to make it was a full on Christian who really loved God with all his heart. We need to have a bright light shining in what at present is a dark environment.
Please join the fight in making a difference in our nation. Someone once said all it takes for evil to prevail is for good people to do nothing!!! Lets unite to take back some ground for the Kingdom of God.
