Does anyone besides me see a HUGE difference between allowing Hubble to speak to 100-200 students at Moore (I'm guessing on the figures) who are already fairly heavily indoctrinated into Anglican theology, and Hubble's actual request to present his theories "from the pulpits"?

A pulpit challenge

I think we would all accept that science and technology are just as much a part of everyday life as Archbishop Jensen claims religion to be ("Let's not undervalue moral education", Herald, February 2).

So, Dr Jensen, if you want God in our schools then you should allow me and other scientists to present our theories, and the method of validation and refutation on which they are based, from your pulpits. The challenge is there, Dr Jensen. I'll give you equal time on my turf, if you'll give me equal time on yours. What say you, Sir?

Dr Tom Hubble, University of Sydney, Camperdown, February 3.

Niall, do you have the initial letter to the editor that inspired
    Jensen’s response?

In the SMH letters to the editor - will be interested to see whether
    this becomes a public lecture!

True believers in a game of call my bluff, so to speak

Thank you, Dr Tom Hubble, for your kind invitation, through the
Herald's Letters page (February 4), to speak to your students. I
accept. On my part I hereby invite you to speak to students at Moore
    Theological College.

You may also be interested in our master's course on science and
Christianity, run with the help of a noted theoretical physicist,
Professor Ross McKenzie, of the University of Queensland. I will be
in touch to confirm the details.

Dr Peter Jensen, Archbishop of Sydney, Sydney, February 4.
