John, in his comments about Family First had this to say;

"One of the agreements family first made with the Liberals was a request that every piece of legislation be subject a "family impact statement" (cf. environmental impact). If the Libs take them seriously this could be of great value." Or maybe it won't.

The Gay and Lesbian community can kiss goodbye any hope of equality and changes to the Commonwealth laws under the current Howard Government now that it has gone to bed with the Family First Party. They are anti-gay - just as Howard is, though he denies it - let another of his many lies - and the only FFP member in the SA State parliament has stated publicly that he will oppose the bill before the parliament to alter over 60 pieces of legislation that discriminate against GLBT people. [For those who have forgotten - GLBT - Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual and Transgendered]- Just don't tell EMU/RA about the last two- they have enough problems dealing with the first two!]

Just be careful of the FFP. They are saying one thing but it is my contention that they will every so subtly start to manipulate the political agenda. We can see what has happened in America. It CAN happen here and our Prime Miniature will welcome it with open arms!

Remember no piece of legislation enacted by law is sacrosanct. IT can be easily repealed if the government of the day has a majority in both houses. It would appear that that is where the Prime Monster is heading. Australia is in for some rough time ahead. As Clare said - where are the people who voted for them?

Malcolm.

God grant me the senility to forget the people
I never liked anyway,

The good fortune to run into the ones I do,

And the eyesight to tell the difference
