Try using the -R (repeater) switch with gpm and have X
read from /dev/gpmdata instead. This should enable both,
the ps2 and serial mouse for X. It works on my system.

Cheers,

PS: Does anybody know, why pcmcia is broken under the 2.1.1xx
development kernels? The same settings for 2.0.34 apparently
do not work under the new kernels.
