Hello, I'm thinking about getting one of these as a desktop replacement.
I noticed there aren't many messages about the 7000 series, so I have some
questions. I read about the winmodems, and was wondering:
1) if anyone is successfully using the gold card kflex pcmcia card that dell
offers as an alternative to the winmodem on linux.
2) is the DVD/CD ROM only useful on the windows side? i.e. I can't use
it to install any software on the linux side?
3) how is the ATI AGP 2X chipset with XiG AccelX v4.1 (RedHat 5.1)? I'm
OK with buying the $160 server, but would like to know if there are
any glitches.
4) low on priority list, but did anyone get sound to work at all?
Unfortunately, I'll have to boot into Windows for some stuff, like DVD
movies (woohoo!) and I bought this killer GPS with a CD-ROM of maps, and
some software, but it's written for Windows, etc. Oh well. Mostly, I
was just looking for some feedback before I shell out close to $4000 to
Dell, and spend a considerable amount of time tweaking for Linux :). Thanks
