To what I know of the dell batterys, they are NiMH (Nickle Metal Hydride)
not NiCad (Nickle Cadium). From what dell claims, a NiMH batter is not
subject to the effects of "memory" their suggestion is to leave it plugged
in all the time if possible. I keep mine plugged in during the day, but at
night I unplug it. I'ts been 7 months, and no battery life degridation
have I seen...:)

Subject: General Laptop Questions

Sorry to go a little off subject, but this applies to all laptop users:

1) What is the best way to keep your battery healthy (meaning, having the
same power storage capacity)? I'm wondering what are the best ways to
preserve battery length?

I have heard that you should always run the battery down to empty, and
then recharge it completely.
What about when it's plugged in? Should you leave the battery in and
charging?
Is there a certain 'maximum' length to leave the battery fully charged
before you should discharge it?
What's the best way to stop the 'memory effect'?

Batteries are expensive these days, and I want to make sure I get the most
out of my battery.

Dell Content:
I'm running an Inspiron 3200, so any suggestions specifically for that
model will be welcomed.

thank you,
