I've had my Inspiron 7000K for about 2 weeks now. Very nice 15" screen.
Thought it was *huge* when I first saw it, but now it just seems normal. In
general I'm very happy with the machine. I bought the Xig X server for it
and successfully installed it in my Slackware UMSDOS installation.

But now, because the modem is a winmodem and doesn't work in Linux, I'm
shopping for a modem. I may also be wanting to network the thing, so am
also looking for an ethernet card. So what I am really looking for are
recommendations for combo cards. I do not need fast (100Mb) ethernet, but
if it doesn't add a lot to the total cost, I would go for it.

I see on the PCMCIA hardware compatibility list at
http://hyper.stanford.edu/~dhinds/pcmcia/ftp/SUPPORTED.CARDS :

> Multifunction cards: [ Fully supported for 1.3.73 and later kernels ]
> [3c589_cs driver] 3Com 3c562, 3c562B/C/D, 3c563B/C/D 3Com
> 3CCEM556, 3CXEM556 [ NOT the 3CFEM556 ]
> Motorola Marquis
> [pcnet_cs driver] D-Link DME336T Grey Cell GCS3400
> IBM Home and Away
> IBM Home and Away 28.8
> Linksys LANmodem 28.8, 33.6
> [smc91c92_cs driver] Gateway Telepath Combo
> Megahertz/U.S. Robotics EM1144, EM3288, EM3336
> Motorola Mariner
> Ositech Jack of Diamonds
> [xirc2ps_cs driver]
> Xircom CreditCard CEM28, CEM33, CEM56
>
Any experiences or recommendations, please reply to the list. Thanks!
