Ok...there are two web pages you should look at for this:

1) http://www.wagnerweb.org/doug/linux

This one is my personal page for Linux on an Inspiron 3000. It's got links
to about 3 or 4 other pages and some advice for specific hardware
configurations.

2) (God I don't believe i've forgotten the addres to this one but) Tomba's
Linux Inspiron page. This one has been the source for linux on an inspiron
since befor I started mine. He's got just about all the info you need..and
if he doesn't I probably do. Anyway, his site is like the first link off
of my page. so hit the above address, and hit tomba's page and you should
probably find all the info you need to get that laptop of yours
configured...:)

p.s. The above pages should also be at http://nts.ml.org/inspiron but last
I understood nts.ml.org was going under, or had gone under, or was having
problems, or something like this..*smile*. I know the wagnerweb address is
correct (it's my own domain, it should be ok..:) ) so anyone linking to
that page should probably change the address. I'm keeping the wagnerweb
address up to date (Ok, as up to date as I can), and periodicaly will keep
the nts address up to date. That's all i've got..:)

Subject: Newbie needs advice:Inspiron 3000

Hi everyone,

Although I know nothing about Linux, I am very interested in installing it
on my Dell Inspiron 3000:

    200 MHz MMX Intel Processor
    80 MB RAM
    2.1 GB HD
    2160 NeoMagic Video

I posted to a few of the newsgroups out there and received a couple of very
helpful replies. I was wondering if someone on this list could give me more
specific directions though (considering I know nothing about what I'm about
to do).

I really don't have the time to spend a couple of weeks trying to get
everything installed properly. Is there anyone out there that can help me
out with this system specifically. It would be greatly appreciated. Note
that I plan to have Windoze installed as well.

Thanks,
Paul
