I can check again tonight, but I didn't notice any mention of what type of memory I was out of. The only non-standard device on this system is a Zip drive, which I can disconnect (if that will actually make enough of a difference). I actually tried all three install modes, and they all gave me the same error about the mini-root not being able to "fit into memory". Seems odd that I can install OS on a Sun Blade 100 with 512MB RAM in full graphical mode, but can't even get the text mode to work on an x86 system with the same amount of memory...
