Unfortunetly, this is a newer MB w/o PS2 > keyboard ports so I'm kinda stuck at this point.
Are there any BIOS setup options for (keyboard) "legacy device emulation"? Maybe if you disable it it doesn't hang any more when the uhci driver initializes the USB controller, although you might loose the keyboard in GRUB and before Solaris' uhci and usb keyboard drivers are loaded...
