I've always thought that the patch tools are really only interesting to Sun's distribution anyway. Particularly because there is only one namespace for patches and that is controlled by Sun. Personally I currently have a downer on patches and would love to have the time to investigate if they should be abandoned in favour of what most Linux based distros do ie just ship new full packages (RPMs in their case usually) with a higher version number. I would be very interested in what the expected use case for patchadd is outside of Sun given the namespace issue. -- Darren J Moffat
