I am near the end of downloading the three image segments for SXDE 09/07 (or as Sarah calls it, the "SXDE3"). Since it appears that very few people were aware of this launch at this time, I am able to maintain very good bandwidth (450KB/s). However, there were two problems in downloading:
First, SDM, again, stopped at the point when it was ready to download image segment "b". I don't know why this is so. Perhaps next time I will try to move segment b to the top of the download list to see if that helps. This may not seem to be terribly inconvenient, but it breaks what otherwise would have been an entirely automatic process. I was really looking forward to installing the supposedly wonderful SXDE3 when I rushed home from a Sunday evening event, but, instead, I had to restart and helplessly watch the downloading process. (Can the someone who has power to control the download process be a little bit more considerate?) Second, SDM now automatically extracts the zipped images. At the finish of the download process, what we have are three unzipped images (plus a md5sum file). Unfortunately, the checksum file contains the md5sum data for only zipped files. Each of the three image segments contains over 1 GB byte of data, and I am really puzzled why we have to be so stingy about saving a couple hundred "bytes"? I am not going the zip those unzipped files just to do the checksum. If things screw up, shame on me. This message posted from opensolaris.org
