I have spent a considerable amount of time reading the pkg(1) man page,
and in the part where it describes the "pkg list" command, it doesn't
say anything about what a letter "u" un the UFIX column means.
In newer releases, the man page has been updated to describe the meaning
of these columns. But to answer your question:
U: If there is a 'u' in this column, it means there is a newer version
of this package available.
F: Means this package is frozen and cannot be upgraded.
I: Means this package is incorporated. That is, it has constrained by
another package on your system.
X: Means this package can't be installed as it has been excluded by
another package already installed on your system.
For your build of OpenSolaris, the the last three columns will never
contain anything.
Cheers,
