I have a machine installed with SLED11 SP1 (kernel 2.6.32.19). lspci says its a
"82852/855GM". The screen will flicker or flash all the time (every other
second) either Xorg is loaded or in console mode. Its will stop for awhile if
there are no video output changes.
I isolated the problem, its not the DVI or neither the VGA port. Its not the
monitor/display, already tried at least 5 different displays. The problem
starts
after loading "i915.ko", either during KMS or during startx if KMS is disabled.
The set of software installation occurs only on this 855GM machine. Same set of
installation doesn't occur on other 9X cards.
Other OS installations with kernel versions 2.6.27, or 2.6.33, or 2.6.34
doesn't
have the problem.
Do you remember this kind of symptoms?
