Some people may just lurk avidly, willing to contrib. But just don't find much to contribute towards. As like MadBeast said above, that the quality of information is already quite good. Most posts are more chit chatty than techy, which a lot of people find intimidating to break into. The few techy things that come up, are usually answered quickly and to a good quality before the digests have even made their way to the lurkers inboxs. I joined primarily, so I could have the daily digests in my inbox to browse at my leisure. Am sure a lot of other people have done so for the same reason also.
Mind, as my 945 chip is in my netbook. I'm not the demographic your aiming the MD's at it seems. I'm not keeping quite instead of bawwwing. My Workstation has 4 PCI-E slots filled by overclocked current gen GForce cards, so can still game on that when I'm home. Just I spend 90% of my time away from home. Luggage is limited to what I can carry on my back, and a netbook the limit of what I can physically carry ontop of all lifes essentials. I tried Win7 on this thing, but using the 1.0MD and all the tweaks I could possibly muster never succeeded in equaling the performance of XP with stock drivers. I hang on in hope of a netbook friendly MD. My OS of choice will always by linux, so the windows part on anything will only be purely for installing Steam inside. so does not matter what form the software on the windows part takes even. If there was something going on, or happening needing real technical expertise it would be different. But this is a support forum for what is obviously a closed source derivative project. If there were an SVN, some form of project management workflow accessible to anybody interested in helping. Normal basic stuff in this world. I would gladly spent no shortage of hours thumbing through the code and studying the schematics to make useful contributions. I have extensive experience patching both firmware and driver sources, even to support self built circuit level mods to devices. Just last week I patched some intel 6350AGN wifi drivers to up the output power from 100mw to 1000mw. But, I can't contribute much more than idle chit chat if the entire project is kept shrouded. I'm sure there are many more like that lurking in the group too. I hope I don't come across as preachy, Its just my personal take on why the community is stagnating. -- INTEL 9xx SOLDIERS SANS FRONTIERS To unsubscribe, reply using "remove me" as the subject.
