Actually, and if I'm not mistaken, I've read a bit about issues between ffdshow and Fallout 3, and you could install ffdshow without any trouble as long as you went to ffdshow audio decoder config -> directshow control and added the exe files for those games in the "Don't use ffdshow in:". It might behave slightly different, depending on specific machine specs, but seemed to solve any issues pending. The only other problem I've seen was with Final Fantasy VII, in which while installing K-Lite you had to select Gabest as the avi splitter or the movies would be in a very smooth slow-mo :)
