Removing both batteries (primary and travel) didn't solve the problem
- the PC would freeze (again) after setting power savings to Maximum
Battery.
However, I found out that installing the driver over the Microsoft
standard drivers using the hardware manager works - doing so via the
setup doesn't. Installing via the setup and afterwards installing the
drivers via the hardware manager again doesn't work.
Seeing that I need the control panel, this is no option :(
Any further tips or some guesses would be appreciated :)

(BTW, the PC freezes - the display goes back and forth between black
and working for several seconds before staying black. There is a small
notification icon in the tray bar when this happens, but I haven't
been able to read what it says nor have I found any events in the
event viewer that are somehow related to the graphics card...)
