And you have to think games are programs just like any other, so what
you do to optimize the whole OS will work for games as well (with
minor exceptions), so a clean registry, a defragmented and less than
half full hdd, having the services tweaked to each person specific
needs, all these things improve both the responsiveness and the
performance of the whole system.
