Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure you need to be on a 64 bit OS for after effects to work as well. It will work on less than 4GB of RAM but it will complain if your using heavy design elements and it runs out of RAM to utilize, this is not so much of a problem if you have greater than 4GB of RAM.
