Haha yeah I've seen so many rages on forums from people who have slow ass
GPU's and trying to utilize the GPU acceleration function. I've seen so many
problems with after effects and less than 4GB of RAM, my mate troy
fredrickson designed our schools graduation video using after effects and he
constantly ran into problems on his C2D 2.8Ghz rig cause he had 2GB. He
upped it to 4GB and BAM!! Problem gone lol. That being said he did use very
heavy effects and utilized a lot of high end functions within the dev tool.

Well, if you take 2GB as a baseline requirements, you will have
minimum acceptable performance, but of course having more will help
indeed :)
Gpu acceleration severely lowers performance with slow gpus, maybe a
way to sell quadro plugins.

Like I said on my first post, it needs x64 architecture, but will
install on x86 with hacks. Also, it will run on 2GB without so many
issues like you're stating.
