It's very unfortunate something like that happened. But you can be sure that neither the tech guys will point fingers at the driver, nor the driver could have had such effect on your computer.
Did you always kept it cool, never clogging any vents? Because netbook cooling is already more passive than regular laptops, so that situation could have made something like that happen. I'm not sure what tips would you like, as you already sent the computer for repair under warranty, so you're all safe. You either get any damage fixed or if it was serious enough, they replace the netbook.
