aight I'll check out head-fi when I'll have the time and discuss some things that would offtopic here. Altho I'm begining to think only we read this topic. (whats your nick there?) To be honest when it comes to testing any kind of speaker i tend to look for high range more than the bass. As for other headphones, i had a sennheiser hd555 but i gave it to a friend when i got my dt990.
And just a tip for anyone trying to build up a nice audio setup. Do NO decide what part you need first. Walk with an open eye and see what you find. Don't be afraid of used stuff. You can get the best prices when the seller doesnt actually know what they are selling. Flee markets and yardsales are the best. I digged my DT990 out of a pile of headphones and paid 10$ for it, and i wasnt even looking for a headphone. Ofcourse if you need a headphone for the very next day, shops are your only option, but I guess its a rare case. Same applies for speakers and amps. Altho never forget test used items before purchase, especially if you pay more than 50$.
