Let me support Hans on this...
In the traditional interface if you double click a device it opens
the 'device info' window. From here you can set the device address,
the probe, the community string, the timeout, the device comment, and
the behaviour, and see the SNMP sysdesc all in one handy ergonomic
place, and without having to go into map edit mode.
With new interface, double clicking a device has no effect. You have
to go into map edit mode, select the device. Then you have to do
Network/Set Info/xxx six different times to do what was so easy to
do with the traditional interface. Then you have to go out of map
edit mode. Many more steps involved. The traditional interface is
more efficient for this very commonly performed action.

Tex,
It is not only the speed but more important the human interface . Example
to change settings of a device I must take more steps.
I have mentioned that already in November
If you want I will send you a more complete report.

I don't know what the basis is of the decision to fade out traditional
Server versus traditional
I find both versions indispensable for the following reasons:
I develop a map's on traditional using my desk and monitoring / and
testing en developing.
Traditional give more speed and the better user interface using traditional
is very important, it really speeds up testing en developing maps.
I am planning to use server is more fore common use en monitoring campus
wide on a longer time base. Now I use a MacOS9 9. Imac 4.2.4 for the job.

the new interface is a step backwards. It works more slowly
because the
users have to take more steps to change something.
Please give us detailed feedback describing what you find frustrating/
slow, as well as the hardware, OS version, and Java version that the
client is running on.
