Yes, this is absolutely true. We should be pressing for tools which can operate in a bi-lingual way. Testing just now, I remember I have to use traceroute6 rather than traceroute (and then embarrassingly discover that v6 out of DANTE is broken - oops).
While itself a minor point, there are still debates on RIPE lists about how to give out v6 space, why the irrtoolset (which helps you configure routers) doesn't support v6, and so on.
The above is somewhat OT for this list, but in the IM context it's useful to
discuss what would be most helpful and what is practical to expect. I haven't
had a chance to try IMv5 yet, unfortunately.
