I'm receiving the same message.  I have the check_ping.c probe in the tools 
folder.  I downloaded the plugins off nagios website.  What files do I need in 
the tools folder other than the check_ping.c file?

Probably. You need to install any command-line probe, including the
Nagios Plugins, yourself--they are not created by or distributed by
Dartware; the ability run them if you have them is simply a feature
of InterMapper.
