I see the exact same error message in FF 3.6 (stock mac install, no
plugins) only by:

 (1) disabling JavaScript
 (2) loading the map page
 (3) enabling JavaScript
 (4) toggling the refresh popup.

We changed the intermapper.js javascript file in 5.2.2. Please go to
this URL and verify that the changeRefreshInterval function exists near
the bottom of your installed file:

   http://intermapper.xxxxxx/intermapper.js

If the "changeRefreshInterval" function exists in the javascript file,
but you still receive the error about changeRefreshInterval, please
check if you have any Firefox plugins that might be blocking javascript.
