He has a point..While I understand the desire to move things out of
core, we don't have any reasonable facility to put things into PECL and
be distributed to anywhere near the same number of people. Until we find
a way to get the general population to consider PECL at the same level
they consider PHP, I don't see how we can ever really avoid putting
"experimental" code into core -- it's the only way it actually gets
tested and/or adopted on a wide scale.
