The School of Social Sciences is planning a significant
investment in senior and junior posts in a number of key
areas of development. These are part of a broader strategy
for strengthening the academic profile of the School in the
run up to 2008 and aim to build on our existing high profile
in these fields. We are looking for outstanding candidates
who wish to be a part of the continuing growth of Social
Sciences at Birmingham.

Applications are invited for the John Ferguson Chair in
Global Ethics. The Chair will be held in the Centre for the
Study of Global Ethics, within the Department of Philosophy
in the School of Social Sciences.

The Centre is multi-disciplinary in its conception and those
with expertise in any area related to Global Ethics,
including ethics, applied ethics, philosophy of religion,
theology, human rights, and political philosophy are welcome
to apply, as are those with theoretical/philosophical
interests in international relations, development studies
and law.

The successful applicant will already have achieved an
impressive international reputation based on the quality of
his/her work and will be expected to make a major
contribution to the Centre's research activity. He or she
will also be expected to undertake administrative,
leadership and teaching duties.
