Strategies of Coping with the Future in East Asia and Europe" (Directors: Michael Lackner, Thomas Fröhlich, Klaus Herbers) at the Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nuremberg invites applications for fellowships starting October 2012. The positions are intended for postdoctoral and senior scholars in the broader field of Chinese studies who are working on issues related to our research focus "Fate, Freedom and Prognostication." We especially welcome applications from scholars who are open to a comparative approach in an Asian-European perspective. A project description may be downloaded at the consortium's website at: http://www.ikgf.uni-erlangen.de We offer an inspiring research atmosphere in an interdisciplinary and international environment as well as a highly competitive stipend. The consortium encourages and funds fellows to organize workshops and conferences in their field of expertise. Research stays vary in terms of lengths, but must not exceed 12 months. The Consortium assists visiting fellows in the relocation process. We might postpone your research stay in order to locate it in an appropriate research phase to facilitate exchange among visiting fellows with the same or similar research focus. Visiting fellows must hold a PhD degree and have outstanding expertise in the focus of our research project. We expect your presence at the consortium during your research stay and your participation in the consortium's regular activities as well as substantial research results, i.e. publications, guest lectures, etc. Candidates must have good proficiency in English. Knowledge of German is not required, can, however, be of advantage. To apply for this fellowship, candidates are requested to send a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, publication list, copies of certificates (PhD), research proposal (up to 1000 words), and names and addresses of two referees.
