Call for Applications Type: Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Philosophy Institution: Department of Philosophy, University of Tromsø (UiT) Location: Tromsø (Norway) Date: 2021–2023 Deadline: 9.8.2021 __________________________________________________ The position One position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow in philosophy is available in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Tromsø - The Arctic University of Norway (UiT). The position is affiliated to the research project Good Integration (GOODINT): Goals and bottlenecks of successful integration and social cohesion (The Research Council of Norway, 2021-2025). The position is a fixed term position for a duration of 2 years. Appointment to the position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow is mainly intended to provide qualification for work in top academic positions. It is a prerequisite that the applicant is able to carry out the project over the full course of the employment period. No person may hold more than one fixed-term position as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the same institution. The appointed Postdoctoral Research Fellow must have its daily workplace at UiT - The Arctic University of Norway, Tromsø. Deadline for Application: 9th August 2021 The project The project is hosted by the Pluralism, Democracy, and Justice (PDJ) research group based at the Department of Philosophy, UiT. Applicants are required to submit a research proposal related to one of more of the following themes: 1. What does successful integration of migrants in European countries amount to? (The definitional question) 2. What, conceptually and empirically speaking, are the main obstacles to successful integration? (The realization question) 3. What is the moral significance of achieving it? (The normative question) We are especially interested in political philosophical proposals that are problem-oriented and analytically discuss the above issue(s) in relation to a) equality of opportunity, b) cultural integration, or c) social cohesion. The project should take a perspective from within contemporary political philosophy/theory, but do so in a way that is also informed by relevant empirical research in the social sciences. With respect to relevant empirical contexts, GOODINT focuses on cases of Hungary, Norway/Nordics, and UK in particular.
