in direct response to this question, I needed to call a "tabbed display", driven by javascript with only the names of tabs and so on being changed, (didn't bother using js variables so ( at the time ) it was an experiment as an alternative to creating a rule. unless we play, we don't learn ;-} now of course, I create rules, but the code works ( well it did ! ) , so why bother changing it, ( one other point is, its an intranet application showing multiple ( tabbed ) groups of common data - service records, latest mileage etc with the data being retrived only if they clicked on the relevent tab. it looked good, worked well, and then ISC redefined the rules . . . kev
