Wanted Poso Terror Suspect Surrenders to Police

One suspect believed to be linked to terrorist groups in Poso and Palu, Central 
Sulawesi, surrendered to the police, a source with the National Police’s 
anti-terror detachment said on Thursday.

“The one who surrendered is Ali Sanang, who is also known as Papa Khairul. He 
is one of the roughly 24 names on the list of wanted terrorists,” a source with 
the Detachment 88 counter-terror unit, also known as Densus 88, said.  

However, the source declined to say when and where the surrender took place. 

“Sanang is owns land on the Tamanjeka mountain in the subdistrict of Poso 
Pesisir in Poso, Central Sulawesi. On that land, two mine bombs were found last 
October,” the source noted. 

At the top of the police’s most wanted list is Santoso, who is also known as 
Abu Warda. 

Also on the list are Hendro, bomb-making expert Taupik Bulaga, who is also 
known as Upik Lawanga, and Mamat. 

Besides Sanang, there are several suspects from Bima on Sumbawa island on the 
list. They include Herman, who alias is Davi, Fadlun, Faris, Can, who is also 
known as Fajar, Sugir, who is also know as Yanto, Hadit, Joko, Salahudin, whose 
alias is Jon, and Busro, who is also known as Atif.

All are wanted over their suspected involvement in a series of terror attacks 
that include bombings, the slaughter of two police officers, the fatal shooting 
of police personnel and a bank robbery in Palu
