Pregnant woman robs taxi passenger
The Jakarta Post, Jakarta | Jakarta | Mon, March 18 2013, 6:33 AM

A woman, claiming to have run out of money, allegedly robbed and wounded a taxi
passenger who tried to give her a free ride in East Jakarta late on Friday,
police say.

Ciracas Police Precinct chief Comr. Senen said on Saturday that the suspect,
identified as HH, 28, allegedly attempted to rob a 44-year-old passenger, Evie
Amaliana, and wounded her in the face.

"We confiscated a military combat knife and its case as evidence," he said as
quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com.

Senen said HH claimed that she did not have money to go back home to Cibubur,
East Jakarta, so she desperately robbed the lady, but "we assume that she
intended to rob the passenger because she brought a knife".

He said HH also admitted during questioning that her husband lived in
Bojonggede, Bogor.

According to him, the incident occurred when HH, who is four months pregnant,
approached Evie, who was about to take the taxi. HH said that she wanted a free
ride as their houses were in the same direction. Evie, who felt pity, allowed
HH to join her.

HH pointed the knife to Evie's face and asked her for money while on their way.
Evie managed to fight back and thwart the robbery. The police are still
questioning HH.
