Hello Johannes, ok, I couldn't get the Sony Xperia, but got a Toshiba AT300 with Jelly Bean 4.1.1.
I could only try over bluetooth and got "Not connected" from your app. Frankly speaking, as other apps work with the configuration, I would assume that there is an issue with your implementation related to IOIO-OTG. And bluetooth is another level of challenge. Would the logcat output help?
