Somebody was kind enough to mail me an issue with the latest Android Studio update. I fired it up again and there were new updates. Now I had nothing to lose, so I updated again. The problem got fixed by one of the million files it changed. Who cares? It now works again.
It wanted to update my projects, so I let it do so. The following message may means something to someone who understands it: The following conversions will be performed: Android Native Run Configurations will be converted to Android Application Run Configurations.
