I've been trying to get..basically the same settings I've been using
before (on a gentoo system that seems to have been messed up somehow
when the memory went bad..what a week this has been..) on a new ubuntu
install (one thing gentoo has taught me is that I don't know how to
maintain a linux system properly). I've been starting
gnome-settings-daemon and ion3 without any problems up until now .
current version of ion3: 3ds-20051029
current version of gnome-settings-daemon: 2.13.2
Probably both of these were older on gentoo. Anyway, now when I try to
start up ion, I get this output:

Oh, and none of the text shows up, except when using MOD2+F3 to run a
command. But you probably knew that.
If I don't start gnome-settings-daemon or start it after ion3 has
started, things seem to work fine.
