AFAIK, "TwinView" refers to NVidia's implementation of Xinerama. 
(Some  refer by Xinerama only to the Xorg implementation, which
is also total shit, from what I've heard. I refer by Xinerama
to the protocol and display arrangement, which is what TwinView also
uses to communicate to apps.)

However, it is possible with some options in nvidia's drivers to
get proper separate screens using the good old X protocols. I'm
not sure if TwinView refers to the setup anymore when this option
is enabled. It didn't use to, as there was no simple option, but
Device-section BusID hacks that made it display the card as two
devices to X.
