The ion-devel README states that libtool/libtldl 1.4.3 or newer is
required. Why precisely 1.4.3? Isn't >=1.4 enough? Apparently, 1.4.2 is
okay at least in some cases. Or maybe that's because of Debian-specific
changes in the libtool package?

Package: ion-devel
Version: 0.0.20030814-1
Severity: wishlist
Hi, I managed to build this version of ion-devel on Woody simply
by building and installing the required liblua packages from unstable
and changing ion-devel Build-Depends to reflect the versions of
debhelper, libtool and libltdl currently in Woody. Using gcc-3.0 (as
stated in a bug report I have just sent) the build goes well and the
package is perfectly usable once installed, which suggests the real
versions required for building it are less than the ones stated (I use
an official Woody system with security updates and no other
repositories). I have seen no side-effects of this in a pair of
months (the previous versions could also be built in this way).
Thanks!
