My Samba server only copies files fast when iperf is also running simultaneously. I have a samba setup to access files from a Windows-PC. Sadly transferring files to it and from it is very slow. (The windows-pcs are part of a domain managed by the samba server) Especially when a large number of small files are copied the speed is very low. Large files are copied quite fast. But as soon as a start a speedtest with iperf from another machine to that samba server the speed of copying files from the samba server is way faster. As soon as iperf stops the speed of the file copy drops again. Does anyone has an idea why iperf is improving the speed of copying the files from a samba server? And what do i have to change in my network to keep the high speed. :) Any help is much appreciated.
