A friend of mine is a professor at Cornell. He's been able to migrate most of
his work to iPad over the last 18 months, which is pretty amazing given how
much writing he does and editing of papers, phd theses etc. The other systems
Cornell has provided him are Dell laptops and desktops, but he says he gets
most of his work done on his iPad, that is, until iOS 7.

He has a system of organization that uses keywords, and sometimes single
characters, within a subject line. Prior to iOS 7 (iOS 6 and iOS 5 at least),
he says he was able to limit a search to the subject line within a designated
mailbox. Today he writes:

".. the inability to search by subject line within a designated mailbox is
killing me. "

On OS X, we of course have fairly robust search options in Mail. But what
about iOS 7? Did Apple remove the feature he is referring to? Is there a
workaround? a different approach?
Also, It appears searching on the server (Cornell uses MS Exchange) is
problematic. "Can't connect to server" .. or the searches are long - sometimes
minutes.

I'm hoping someone can clarify the above for me and offer solutions so I can
help him out.

Thanks,
Kevin
