AFAIK, there isn't a protocol for specifying sms links. However, there are the beginnings of some kind of "sms://" URI protocol handler in the iPhone today. If you send an email to an email acct on your iPhone with links like these...
<sms://nnn5551212?text=testing this out> <sms://nnn5551212?text=testing this out> <sms://nnn5551212?msg=testing this out> <sms://devon?text=testing this out> <sms://devon?msg=testing this out> <sms://devon hubbard?msg=testing this out> <sms://devon hubbard?text=testing this out> (where 'nnn5551212' is a desired telephone number) ...the links will appear active in the email, and when you click them, the iPhone will take you to the SMS client app. But the SMS app is in a weird state because it displays "Text Messages" as the title on the top of the window, with no edit or create buttons on either side, and no other content but a solid black screen The iPhone isn't hung or anything like that at this point. You can click home and get out of it and clicking on the "SMS" icon takes you back into text messaging with the expected display. fwiw.. some variations in the text in the sms msg result in the link doing nothing. For example, if you try and use a telephone in the format '+nnn5551212', clicking on the link displayed on your iPhone simple does nothing. dEVoN On Aug 7, 2007, at 6:41 PM, Tim Heuer wrote: > is there a way to specify a link that would initiate a text message > with default text? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "iPhoneWebDev" group.
