Apple expects the iPad to display standard sized web pages in it's version of Mobile Safari. I would assume that it should use your standard page rather than the one you use for the iPhone/touch devices.
Since the simulator doesn't include a safari browser at this time I don't know how to see what the difference is between user agent strings for an iPhone/touch vs an iPad.
