Nothing to do: other trials, other failures. It seems that each way has been explored, both on eth0 end eth1 ifaces: - setting a third IP for the BMC - sharing IP with the NIC - etc. etc. I'm wondering: is it possible that something is missing from the kernel? to avoid possible doubts, I activated *all* under IPMI, Hardware Monitoring Support and I2C. The unique clues I can report are the following errors: ~# ipmitool -v -I open lan print 2 Get LAN Parameter 'Set in Progress' command failed: Unknown (0x80) Auth Type Support : NONE MD5 PASSWORD Auth Type Enable : Callback : NONE MD5 PASSWORD : User : NONE MD5 PASSWORD : Operator : NONE MD5 PASSWORD : Admin : NONE MD5 PASSWORD : OEM : NONE MD5 PASSWORD IP Address Source : Static Address IP Address : 194.183.88.235 Subnet Mask : 255.255.248.0 MAC Address : 00:15:60:ed:dd:62 SNMP Community String : public Get LAN Parameter 'IP Header' command failed: Unknown (0x80) Get LAN Parameter 'BMC ARP Control' command failed: Unknown (0x80) Get LAN Parameter 'Gratituous ARP Intrvl' command failed: Unknown (0x80) Default Gateway IP : 194.183.95.254 Get LAN Parameter 'Default Gateway MAC' command failed: Unknown (0x80) Get LAN Parameter 'Backup Gateway IP' command failed: Unknown (0x80) Get LAN Parameter 'Backup Gateway MAC' command failed: Unknown (0x80) Get LAN Parameter '802.1q VLAN ID' command failed: Unknown (0x80) Get LAN Parameter '802.1q VLAN Priority' command failed: Unknown (0x80) Get LAN Parameter 'RMCP+ Cipher Suite Count' command failed: Unknown (0x80) Get LAN Parameter 'Cipher Suite Priv Max' command failed: Unknown (0x80) Cipher Suite Priv Max : Not Available - -- federico -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFHVqZei7obm7aBjHcRAlMNAJsEUmADFc+ilfbM/af8Yb+OER33gQCghEHy zEFd/sqGD7CwqSI3FqotII4= =hGv5 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is sponsored by: The Future of Linux Business White Paper from Novell.
